For Aviodrome, we had the pleasure of designing the permanent experience and exhibition “Faster than Sound”. In this exhibition, Aviodrome visitors enter a different space each time with a new experience, where the show is timecoded and no operational staff is required. The exhibition forms a continuous loop that follows the principle of a preshow in the queue of a attraction, where guests are automatically guided through the spaces.

Given the museum-like character of Aviodrome, the provision of information towards the guest – both technical and historical – was of great importance in this project. In the first room, visitors step back in time, through a static decor that comes to life through sound clips. Here they learn about the genesis of the jet fighter.

The second space focuses on technology. Using video mapping and SFX effects, visitors can activate a jet engine themselves. Interactivity, experience and education go hand in hand here.

In the final area, the hangar, visitors come face to face with special jet fighters such as the Gloster Meteor, Lockheed F-104 Starfighter and the Fokker S.14. These are literally put in the spotlight by programmed light and sound installations.

Since its opening, this exhibition within Aviodrome has been rated by guests as one of the best within the museum’s offering.
